It seems like in recent months, a closer look at menswear as been catapulted to the fore front of major media coverage. We’ve filtered through this seasons major trends to round up our favorites and tips on how to wear them.
WHITE OUT
The tonal look trend has been on our radars for quite some time, but now with the warmer weather an all white or all cream look is fresh and is the perfect time to debut this trend. Don’t get mistaken for a guest at a white tie party though. Leave the top one or two buttons on your shirt undone, and pair it with a loafer for a more casual approach. Still want to add some color to your look? A patterned pocketsquare a la Mr. Legend is the perfect amount of punch.
PERFECTLY PINK
Major brands like Tom Ford, Zegna, and Valentino all had various shades of the color on their runway. Pink is a color that can be paired with a wide range of suiting, which may come as a surprise to some men. However, be careful with which one you wear based on your skin tone. Pastels look good on a medium-light, and dark, richer skin tones. Don’t be afraid to step outside your typical color box; this year promises even more vibrant colors for menswear.
The pin-stripe is making a return. Designers such as Ferragamo, Versace, and Marni jumped on the pattern bandwagon and showed a range of sizes from bold thick stripes to the classic pin. Vertical stripes help elongate the body, but make sure you consult with your tailor before deciding on a width. They’ll help determine which size is best for your body shape.
COLLAR ON
There are two new collars on display for the summer: the band and the Cuban. Both are casual, comfortable, and have the right amount of detailing to look put together. These styles go well with a cotton/linen blend shirt for just the right amount of structure and laid-back vibe.
